We are seeking works that contrast\, blend\, or investigate the conceptual tension between tactile\, handmade processes and modern\, pixel-based\, or computer-generated practices. \nSubmission Guidelines \nEligibility & Rules \n\nArtist Limit: This is a highly curated exhibition. A maximum of 10 artists will be accepted for the final showcase.\nEligible Media: Open to all contemporary visual art genres and mediums that align with the theme. This includes painting\, drawing\, photography\, printmaking\, digital art\, illustration\, collage\, and mixed media.\nExclusions: Sculptures and three-dimensional freestanding works are strictly excluded due to gallery spatial constraints. All submissions must be wall-mountable.\nDisplay Readiness: All accepted pieces must arrive ready to hang with wire\, D-rings\, or appropriate mounting hardware. Unframed canvas works must have clean or painted edges.\nDeadline: December 1st\, 2026\n\nFees & Commission \n\nApplication Fee: A $15 non-refundable submission fee is required per artist application. This fee covers administrative overhead\, jury review\, and exhibition promotion.\nArtHaus Gallery Commission: All work must be for sale. The gallery retains a 30% commission on all sales made during the exhibition. Artists receive 70% of the retail price.\n\nHow to Apply \n\nPrepare Materials: Gather up to 5 high-resolution JPEG images of your work (maximum 5MB per file). The exhibition will officially open on November 21st at the ArtHaus studio space in Hudson County.\n\nRobert Sundholm’s story is one of the most remarkable and deeply moving narratives in contemporary American folk art. Abandoned at a Brooklyn orphanage at age seven\, Sundholm overcame a lifetime of profound hardship\, illiteracy until age 32\, and decades of isolation. At age 60\, while working as a janitor mopping floors at the North Bergen Town Hall\, he picked up a paintbrush for the first time. He began taping his prolific\, untrained paintings directly to the corridor walls of the town hall\, where his immense raw talent was eventually discovered in 2009.\n\nSundholm went on to take the elite art world by storm\, debuting at New York City’s prestigious Outsider Art Fair. His “brushy fly-away” style has been widely compared to European Expressionism\, capturing international acclaim from the New York Times\, BBC News\, and People Magazine.\n\nThe upcoming ArtHaus exhibition offers an intimate look at Sundholm’s emotionally charged landscapes and solitary figures\, which reflect his life’s deep longings\, vulnerabilities\, and eventual triumphs. Driven by a primal need to “create something beautiful” out of loneliness\, his thick\, textured brushstrokes and explosive use of color continue to serve as a powerful testament to the human spirit.
